Chee Lai Yong is based in Beijing and he leads Accenture’s Health and Public Service business across Asia Pacific. He sits on the leadership team of Accenture’s global Health and Public Service Operating Group and is a member of the company’s Global Leadership Council.

Prior to this role, Lai Yong was responsible for Accenture’s Telecommunications, Hitech, Media and Entertainment business in the Asia Pacific. The business quadrupled surpassing a billion Singapore dollars under his leadership; making it one of the largest IT services businesses in the region.

Lai Yong has 27 years of professional consulting experience with Accenture. He has led major change initiatives to help clients harness technology for effective business transformation. He was Executive Sponsor for the China Telecom Zhejiang Billing and Customer Care transformation program which was voted the Best Project in the Chinese Telecommunications Industry in 2008. He delivered the Inland Revenue Integrated System, which won the inaugural Singapore National IT Award in 1996.

Lai Yong is a frequent speaker in the areas of High Performing Business and Knowledge Management. He has spoken at forums including World Knowledge Forum (Seoul), Mobile Congress (Hong Kong), China Association of Communications Equipment Forum (Beijing) and the World Economic Forum (Singapore).

Prior to his move to Beijing, Lai Yong was active in the Singapore business community. He was the Vice President of the Singapore Computer Society, Honorary Secretary of the Information Technology Management Association and Member of the National IT Standards Committee. He participated in the National Certification Task Force that established the National Infocomm Competency Centre. He chaired the eCommerce Technical Committee in 2000 under EDB’s Specialist Manpower Programme. He was Chairman of the IT Committee of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants in 1996.

Lai Yong has delivered a number of innovative and pioneering programs. He worked on one of the first client/server applications in the world at the regional headquarters of a global Bank. He participated on one of the earliest virtualisation and cloud services in APAC with a company in Australia. He managed the first SAP delivery in Asia for a telecommunications giant. Together with his colleagues in Singapore, he holds an international patent on training enterprise and methods.

Lai Yong graduated from the National University of Singapore with an honours degree in Accountancy. His work has brought him to live in China, Japan, South Korea, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Australia and the Mauritius. He is married and he enjoys gardening, food tasting and exploring cities new to him.
