Outsourcing is one of the most prevalent trends in today's business environment. Statistics show that almost 80% of companies expect to increase their investment in outsourcing. With increasing reliance on outsourcing to meet business needs, there is a high demand for certified IT outsourcing professionals with the relevant skills to successfully manage outsourced projects. Such skills are vital to ensure that outsourcing helps organisations to realise its business objectives and competitive edge.
The Certification in Outsourcing Management for IT (COMIT), managed by the Singapore Computer Society (SCS) and supported by the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA), aims to equip IT outsourcing professionals with critical management skills to implement successful outsourcing initiatives and accord industry recognition for their competency.
SCS has appointed the Institute of Systems Science of the National University of Singapore, to administer the qualifying examination and provide preparatory courses for IT professionals seeking certification in IT outsourcing. The courses that ISS offers will equip IT outsourcing professionals with sufficient knowledge and skills to manage outsourced projects effectively and prepare them for certification.
This blended certification preparatory programme for IT Outsourcing Management will: - Build and improve their current IT outsourcing management skills
- Assess their IT Outsourcing Management competency level
- Prepare for the IT Outsourcing Management examination
Participants earn 5 Continuing Professional Certification (CPC) credits upon successful completion of this course. |

Course Fee - Course fee quoted is inclusive of GST.
- NICF Accreditation
- This course is accredited under the National Infocomm Competency Framework (NICF). Upon completion of the course, eligible participants will be assessed on 7 Competency Units (CUs).
- Participants will receive their course grant based on the number of CUs passed. For each CU passed, a Statement of Attainment (SOA) will be issued. Course grant payable is shown here. Applicable to Singapore citizens and permanent residents only. Terms and conditions apply.
- Absentee payroll subsidy is available for eligible companies. Companies on a short work week system will receive its absentee payroll paid based on their employees' current income. For more information and claims on absentee payroll, click here.

Examination & COMIT Certification - The examination comprises of two three-hour papers:
- Paper 1 - Multiple choice questions
- Paper 2 - Open book essay questions
- Attendance at this course is not a pre-requisite for the COMIT examination
- Applicants for the COMIT (Associate) should obtain a pass in this IT Outsourcing Management examination (Paper 1 and 2) and possess minimum one year of experience in IT Outsourcing Management for IT degree holders or minimum two years of experience for non-IT degree or non-degree holders
- Participants will need to separately apply to SCS for the COMIT certification upon passing the examination. For more information on COMIT certification, visit www.scs.org.sg
Professional Accreditation
In recognition of the professionalism of COMIT, NUS and NTU have waived certain requirements for COMIT holders in its Masters programme.
National University of Singapore (NUS) Certified Outsourcing Managers for IT (COMIT) who gain admission into NUS' Master of Science, Management of Technology will be granted a waiver of the Systems Approach to Project Management module.
Institute of Systems Science, NUS (ISS-NUS) Certified Outsourcing Managers for IT (COMIT) who gain admission into NUS' Master of Technology in Software Engineering/Knowledge Engineering (MTech) will be granted an exemption from taking the Managing IT Outsourcing and Subcontracting basic elective course, only if they have obtained their COMIT certification through passing the examination conducted by ISS-NUS.
Nanyang Technological University (NTU) Certified Outsourcing Managers for IT (COMIT) who gain admission into NTU's Master of Science, Management of Technology will be granted a waiver of the Systems Project Management module.
These waivers are considered only if candidates satisfy the formal admission requirements of both universities. Special examination exemption is also extended to graduates of National University of Singapore. For more information, please click here.
