ITIL is the most widely accepted approach to IT service management in the world. It provides a systematic and professional approach to the management of IT service provision. To become an effective IT professional, there is a need to not just deliver IT as a one-off project, but to go beyond to manage IT as a total service over an entire service lifecycle. Adopting ITIL offers benefits such as reduced costs, improved IT services through the use of proven best practice processes and improved customer satisfaction through a more professional approach to service delivery
