Chief, Software Architecture & Agile Programme


Pervez Kazmi is Chief of the Software Architecture & Agile Programme within the Software Engineering & Design Practice at ISS.  Within this practice, an experienced team delivers practical applied IT education programmes in software architecture, software design, mobile and web application development and testing, software technologies such as databases and enterprise Java, cloud computing and agile DevOps processes.

Pervez is an experienced Enterprise Architect, IT Strategist and IT Leader specialising in large-scale Digital Transformation to harness business value with the optimum use of IT capabilities.  

Pervez has held senior positions as an individual contributor, team leader and functional head in Singapore, Seattle, Melbourne and London with leading organisations in the public and private sector.  He has a successful track record of delivering business-aligned IT solutions by combining strong technology knowledge and experience with business domain expertise in multiple sectors, including Banking and Finance, Telco, Shipping, Media, Supply Chain and Logistics, and Government.  His areas of specialisation include Enterprise Architecture, Solution Architecture, Software Design, Cloud Computing, Enterprise Data Management, Enterprise Application Integration and SDLC Processes.

Pervez has been certified by The Open Group as a Distinguished Certified IT Architect. He also holds professional certifications in cloud platforms (AWS, Microsoft and IBM), Enterprise Architecture, Software Architecture, Enterprise Java, SOA and project management.

Pervez led the Enterprise Architecture team at SGX prior to rejoining ISS.  He participated in the definition of strategies for Digital Transformation and led in the adoption of architectural best practices.  The team owned and managed IT standards, patterns, tools and processes used across the organisation.

As Principal Solution Architect with AWS, Pervez co-authored the AWS Cloud Adoption Framework, a comprehensive approach for the adoption of cloud computing by enterprises, which is being used globally.  He supported enterprises to adopt AWS correctly for new software solutions and to migrate to it for existing ones.  He advised project teams on implementing solutions on AWS using agile DevOps practices.

At Deutsche Bank, Pervez was a senior member of the global Architecture and Engineering team, the global head of Enterprise Architecture of a business unit and head of a team of senior architects across the APAC region.  He contributed to the Deutsche Bank Architecture Framework for technology-led business transformation and chaired the global Technology Architecture Board, responsible for technology governance.  He contributed to key global initiatives in Enterprise Data Management, SOA and EAI.

At NOL, Pervez was Director of Enterprise Architecture, leading a team of architects.  He chaired the Architecture Review Group and was Chief Architect of an enterprise-wide transformation programme that successfully modernised the application landscape utilising best practice patterns and processes within a SOA.

In Australia, Pervez led a large software design, build and delivery team for a major telco with 200 technologists.  He was Lead Architect of a large enterprise-wide IT transformation programmes in a leading media company.  He defined the target state architecture, architected applications, integrated applications via suitable protocols and mentored development teams on design patterns, SDLC processes and best practices.  He served as consultant to a major bank on defining a target Enterprise Architecture and led the implementation of a CMMI Level 5 SDLC. 

While at IDA, Pervez was Principal Software Architect for the Singapore eGovernment system’s design and implementation of the platform for building and running eGovernment services. He led a technology consortium of public and private sector organisations that delivered a world-leading capability.

At Microsoft Singapore, Pervez worked with CIOs and CTOs to define target state architectural blueprints and roadmaps for their organisations and led teams on designing and developing component-based software applications.  At Microsoft's HQ in Redmond, Pervez led the Microsoft Solutions Framework team.  MSF guides the architecting, designing and implementation of software solutions using an agile and iterative framework.

As a faculty member of ISS previously, Pervez taught professional courses on Enterprise Architecture, Computer Technology, Networking, Client-Server Computing and Software Development.  He was part of the team that introduced the MTech degree in Software Engineering.  Pervez also provided consulting to local organizations in his areas of specialisation.
