Robert FIRTH

Principal Lecturer & Consultant, Software Engineering & Design Practice


Robert teaches requirements analysis, software quality, assurance, software and system reliability, software metrics and process improvement at ISS. He spent 11 years at the Software Engineering Institute where he taught software process improvement, along with many other topics, as part of the Master of Software Engineering programme at Carnegie Mellon University. He also participated in technical research on risk management, software design methods, and internet security. In '96-'97, as a visiting professor at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, he assisted in the introduction of software process improvement concepts and technology in their MSE and software centre programmes. From '79 - '85, he was a member of the design and review team for the Ada programming language. Previously as associate professor at the Royal Military College of Science in England, he had taught and consulted with the Ministry of Defence and other government organisations.
