Graduate Programmes
At NUS-ISS, we create leaders and technology innovators through our practice-oriented graduate programmes.
Students learn from experienced lecturers with strong industry background and in a nurturing environment which will equip them with inter-cultural fluency and practical insights in the world of digitalisation and infocomm. A hallmark of our programmes are the key internship and capstone project modules, which allow our students to learn as they deliver real outcomes in organisations in Singapore.
Our multiple graduate degrees are strongly aligned to building the smart nation, by developing talents into globally-aware leaders. Our Master of Technology (MTech) in Knowledge Engineering develops students who build strategic data-driven intelligent systems; the MTech Enterprise Business Analytics students use data and models to ensure better business decisions; MTech Software Engineering provides the platforms and processes for robust and secure systems; and the MTech IT Leadership creates the future digital leaders to make the smart nation a reality.
In addition, the first of our stackable offerings – the Graduate Diploma in Systems Analysis (GDipSA) – is a conversion course which provides an alternative pathway to adults for them to embark on a career in the technological world.

Master of Technology in Software Engineering
85 graduates in 2017Digital innovation is the future but it is software which provides the key to unlock the innovation. Software enables the Smart Nation, and the MTech Software Engineering degree ensures that software development is enhanced with best practice, accurate estimation, proper management and appropriate frameworks to ensure agile and timely delivery of software systems.
Internships and Capstone Projects
Over the years, NUS-ISS has built strong partnerships with numerous Singaporean businesses working at the forefront of emerging technology trends. Our students have the opportunity to put their learning into practice by working closely with these organisations through internships or capstone projects.
They range from exciting start-ups to established multinational corporations to cutting-edge government organisations.
These projects enable the students to build their competencies by applying what they have learnt in the classroom to solving real-world challenges in the workplace. This practice-based learning approach is an integral aspect of NUS-ISS’ philosophy towards continuing education. By collaborating on the latest industry projects, the students directly contribute to the development of Singapore as a Smart Nation and experience first-hand the capabilities of today’s cutting-edge technologies.
Featured Projects
Graduate Diploma in Systems Analysis (GDipSA)
Land Transport Authority
With rapid development of microcontrollers and sensors in recent years, the project is designed to explore the use of robots for test automation on the Automated Gates which are used in Mass Rapid Transport (MRT) stations.
SIMTech A*Star
The Smart Waste Manager Application System was developed to overcome waste management problems, such as how to effectively manage, reduce and remove production waste generated by the manufacturing industry.
Social Data Development
To help shopping mall operators understand their customer profile better, the project is focused on using location sensor technologies to understand customers’ movement in malls through development of a Facebook web application.
MTech in Enterprise Business Analytics (EBAC)
IBM
Machine Learning Prediction/Forecasting engine for multi-dimensional Point-of-Sale projections of Sales, Customer footfall and Labor information, enabling robust, automated workforce planning and optimization for brick and Mortar retail establishments.
NTUC
Enriching campaign decisions by predicting cross-sell and up-sell opportunities through augmentation of demographic and purchase data with product sequences, customer life stage and geocoded data.
NVPC
A prediction model to foresee the success of fundraising campaigns hosted in NVPC’s Giving.sg platform to raise funds for charities in Singapore and thereby identifying the factors contributing to their success.
MTech in Knowledge Engineering (KE)
DSTA
This project proposes a stochastic-optimization approach using machine learning to obtain the best combination of chiller set-point parameters at a given time step. The process remains self-adaptive, yet can potentially avoid suboptimal parameters. The model is empirically evaluated on a real world dataset.
HP Inc
This project investigates the feasibility of applying Markov Chain theory to predictive maintenance. It provides a probabilistic approach to characterize flow rate and reject rate in manufacturing, with detection of abnormal behavior and recommendations for intervention.
Khoo Teck Puat Hospital
This project conducts an in-depth quantitative analysis using the collected patient feedback data and applies text mining to extract information on complaints to figure out what patients are complaining. A web UI is implemented to go through the end-to-end analysis circle that can present all insights to help the Quality Service Management Department make forward-looking service improvement.
MTech in Software Engineering (SE)
