NCSS Sector Design Challenge – collaboration, launched by Minister for Social & Family Development, Desmond Lee, in July 2019 at the Social Service Sector Summit, to catalyse an innovation culture across the entire family of 450 NCSS member organisations.
The designathon programme took place from July to November 2019, and included workshops and mentoring clinics to guide and support participants in building key design and innovation skills.
The programme concluded in November 2019 with the judging finals, during which the shortlisted teams pitched their solutions to a panel of esteemed industry judges. Winners were awarded funding to enable them to prototype and test their solutions, designed to create impact and be scalable.
"The workshops led by NUS-ISS Smart Health trainers were fun-filled and powerful as it got participants to think outside the box and build innovative capabilities within a short period of time. Our team of social workers benefitted by using the design thinking methods taught and co-creating solutions to improve clients’ outcomes and service efficiency."
