SGUnited Skills Programme Orientation

The global epidemic has amplified the importance of career services as jobs and organisations are impacted by the aftermath of the pandemic. Our career consultants doubled down on initiatives to help and support our students, alumni and all executive programmes participants seeking career-course advisory and job placement to tackle economic and national challenges.



Key Initiatives

1. Launch of NUS-ISS SGUnited Skills Programme
A full-time Train & Place programme targeted at reskilling and upskilling Singaporeans, including those affected by COVID-19. Six certifiable pathways focusing on in-demand digital skills were launched with workplace immersion and industry projects.

2. Professional Conversion Programmes (PCP)
Targeted at helping Professionals, Managers and Executives (PMEs) undergo skills conversion, NUS-ISS PCPs include work attachments for individuals to acquire experience in the field and enhances jobseekers' competencies and confidence to secure new jobs. In 2020, a total of 174 participants were trained over a total of 5 PCP runs.

3. CHRO 4.0 Roundtable - Digital Talent in the New Normal

On 19 October 2020, we organised a roundtable with four Chief Human Resource Officers from Keppel Corporation, Institute for Human Resource Professionals (IHRP), Home Team Science and Technology Agency (HTX) and Singtel to share what organisations have learnt from the pandemic, as well as how digital transformation has changed the way companies hire and develop talents.

4. Digitalisation Passport Programme

An intensive 1-month programme in collaboration with Centre for Future-ready Graduates, specially created for NUS fresh graduates actively searching for a full-time job. In 2020, we guided and propelled 15 fresh graduates on their career journey as they actively look for jobs to begin their new career journey.

Career Services Events

In 2020, Career Services organised a total of 15 events comprising of Recruitment Sessions, Speed Interviews and Professional Conversion Programme (PCP) Information Sharing Sessions. These events were attended by about 60 companies and 600 participants including NUS-ISS Graduate Programmes students, Executive Education Programmes participants and PCP applicants.

As part of NUS-ISS’ Virtual Learning Festival themed Empowering Skills & Career Transformation, we also held 5 Career Development Programmes for Future Artificial Intelligence Engineers, Digital Business Analysts, Data Scientists and Data Analysts, Software Developers and Digital Health Practitioners. There were several Professional Conversion Programmes sharing sessions for both individuals and employers too with the highlight being a panel session on talent acquisition and development in the new normal with guest speakers from Singapore University of Technology & Design (SUTD), Institute for Human Resource Professionals (IHRP) and Shopee.
