CEO's Message

2023 was yet another remarkable year for NUS-ISS, one which sets the stage for an even more exciting road ahead.

In July, we celebrated our resilience and achievements at the NUS-ISS Annual Luncheon, our first after a hiatus since 2019. The reunion with our NUS-ISS community and industry partners was a joyous and momentous occasion.

In October, we held the eighth run of NUS-ISS Learning Festival 2023, themed "Empowering Careers, Turbocharging Professional Growth". This immersive event featured a full day of insightful sessions held at our physical campus, followed by an online festival in November. With a lineup of curated webinars, we reached a vast audience of industry professionals worldwide, fostering connections and learning opportunities. Notably, guest speakers from renowned companies such as Google, Oracle, and OCBC inspired our attendees.

The inaugural NUS-ISS TalentXperience, held in partnership with SG Innovate, was a highlight of the Learning Festival. This exclusive platform connected NUS-ISS graduate programme students with coveted internship opportunities at leading companies, including The Coca Cola Company, Health Sciences Authority (HSA), Mediacorp, KPMG, and SingHealth Polyclinics (SHP).

Our collaboration with GovTech Singapore on The Digital Academy continued to thrive on a strong momentum. NUS-ISS co-delivered the second run of the CIO Milestone Programme, with the 3rd cohort ongoing, and the eighth run of the Leading Digital Transformation (for Directors) Programme with GovTech. Additionally, our partnership with NCS Group on the Nucleus Programme saw over 1,000 staff trained on the courses leading to NUS-ISS Graduate Certificates, showcasing our commitment to talent development in our industries.

NUS-ISS also maintained its commitment to developing digital talents for the finance and banking sector with renewed partnerships in the IBF Technology in Finance Immersion Programme (TFIP) and Visa Technology Traineeship Programme.

In 2023, we launched two new joint certifications with the Singapore Computer Society, focusing on DevSecOps Automation & Engineering, and Managing Digital Products. We introduced a new Graduate Certificate in Intelligent Financial Risk Management, enhancing our offerings to meet industry demands. Our flagship Graduate Diploma in Systems Analysis underwent curriculum updates on machine learning and generative AI to further strengthen the programme as the digital industry beacon for career conversion. In similar vein, we extended and deepened the coverage of large language models in our Master of Technology programmes.

In May, NUS-ISS conducted the third run of the Digital Leadership Programme in Manila for a team of 30 leaders from the Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI). This immersive experience provided practical insights and perspectives on digital transformation and business agility, showcasing the evolving role of leaders in today's digital landscape. At the BPI Elite Summit attended by 800 executives from the BPI leadership team, we delivered keynote sessions on Data Driven Decision Making and Digital Transformation, sharing valuable insights with the audience.

My team and I are constantly feeling the pulse of industry and examining how big shifts in industry are reshaping jobs, skills, and learning. We embarked on our ISS2030 strategic planning exercise to envision our future relevance to industry over the next five years. Through the ISS2030 exercise, we will distill the key ingredients which make NUS-ISS truly special in our ability to help industry professionals learn and deliver practical solutions that enable impactful business outcomes.

I am immensely grateful for the commitment of my colleagues at NUS-ISS, who work tirelessly to bring these to fruition. I thank our NUS-ISS Management Board and NUS management for their strong support, our industry stakeholders for their steadfast collaboration, and all our friends in the community at large for the valuable connections we have built. These are the driving forces behind NUS-ISS' continuous growth and progress, inspiring us in our continuing pursuit to accelerate digital excellence in industry.

Mr KHOONG Chan Meng
