2023 was a year packed with uncertainty and challenges. But through it all, NUS-ISS remained steadfast in our mission. We continued to leverage our expertise and experience to empower both individuals and organisations - in Singapore and beyond - with core competencies to navigate the ever-evolving business and job landscapes.
And since our inception in 1981, NUS-ISS has charted a remarkable journey of growth.
Our commitment to excellence has enabled us to train over 178,000 digital leaders and professionals, as well as serve 8,410 corporate clients, to date. A total of 8,160 graduates form our vibrant and diverse community of graduate programme alumni, who have gone to work in leading industry organisations, contributing to the larger transformation of Singapore's digital landscape.
From a humble institute four decades ago, the NUS-ISS has grown from strength to strength and now trains more than 390 organisations annually. We have also extended our training capabilities overseas, building a strong regional and global network that attracts students from 110 nationalities since 1981.
In 2022, we rolled out a series of highly immersive Blended Learning programmes, which made the NUS-ISS curriculum more accessible to an even larger population of digital talent, including those based overseas. Since then, 377 students have enrolled in these programmes - with half being international students from Philippines, India, Thailand, and Japan. 176 Blending Learning certificates have since been issued.
On the corporate engagement front, we remain committed to supporting our industry partners in helping them accelerate key skills and capabilities building across their organisations. We trained 70 professionals in software development as part of the Visa Technology Traineeship Programme; 89 professionals in software engineering and 33 in business analysis in the IBF Technology in Finance Immersion Programme. 1,813 professionals took part in the NCS Nucleus Programme, and 392 were awarded graduate certificates.
Meanwhile, 138 participants obtained the Managing Digital Product certification and 332 obtained DevSecOps Engineering and Automation certification - both jointly offered by NUS-ISS and the Singapore Computer Society.
All these accomplishments would not have been possible without the hard work and commitment of a few groups of people, to whom I'd like to take the opportunity to express my gratitude. A big thank you to each and every one of my colleagues for your hard work and commitment, as well as the NUS-ISS Management Board members who have provided their invaluable guidance and encouragement.
As technological tidal waves, with the latest being Generative AI, relentlessly reshaping businesses and industries, what will the future role of NUS-ISS be?
At the end of the day, the key success factor in any digital transformation journey is "people and talent". NUS-ISS will continue to be a key pillar, a leader in spearheading and reinventing digital talent strategies for organisations in Singapore, and beyond.
We have achieved great milestones thus far, but I believe the best is yet to be. We look forward to continuing this journey with you and achieving more together.
Ms Janet Ang
Chairman, NUS-ISS Management Board
