NICF- Creating Business Value from IT Investment

Overview

Information Technology (IT) spending consists of existing technology investments to run or grow business, as well as new technology investments to further grow and transform business. A balance is needed between these investments which is dependent on a combination of business strategy, short-term need to show profit and long-term need for growth. Once the balance is determined, a process of governance is necessary to maximise business values from the investments and to ensure that they are fully realised.

IT leaders have to go beyond the traditional measure of functionality; availability or time, budget and scope. They have to identify the value of IT investments in collaboration with the business and view business values from their perspectives. This common measure will align IT and the business in running, growing and transforming the organisation.

This course is designed to provide insights into how the business values of IT can be articulated. With this, any investments can be seen from the business perspective with a clear vision of costs and benefits, which the business understands and helps to justify.

This course is part of the Digital Leadership Series offered by NUS-ISS.
