The 20th Architecture Community of Practice (ACoP) Forum - Balancing Innovation and Architecture

How to balance Innovation while striving for Standardisation? This talk will demystify how far can Architecture be stretched while innovating. In the age of Digital Disruption, little time and effort is put to drive standards and adoption of best practices and where Architects are an overhead and adding little value to the IT organisation.

As a Chief Architect and part of the team that is also involved with Innovation, the change for adopting modern technology rests with everyone including the Architecture team. With modern technologies, where everything is possible and there is not one right approach, enforcing standards, principles need to give way a bit and the view has to be taken from how  the newer investment in  tools will be better for  the future architecture design.

On many occasions, Architects have been on the receiving side of not supporting the Innovation Team’s “wish list,” asking us to do more, be open with our views and help bring about real change. Many times, we have conflicts with Business, Innovation Leader and as an Architect you must decide without bias. This talk will also cover how the Architect team is involved in Innovation projects and lead the change exploring different technologies.
