In today's world, almost every business is a digital business. In every industry, processes are being transformed by the pervasive use of digital technologies and rise of disruptive business models. To compete, businesses need to adapt and transform. Organisations need leaders who can think strategically to harness digital change and create new opportunities for the business. This digital leadership programme prepares you to become effective leaders who can develop and lead strategies to transform businesses to thrive in the new digital economy

New demands are mandated on today's leaders to reap the full benefit of digital opportunities, manage risks, complexity and uncertainties, and to drive cultural changes.

This MDL programme focuses on digital strategy and leadership and will equip you with the critical thinking, hard and soft skills to become an effective leader. It will accelerate your career and enhance your ability to take on greater roles and responsibilities in digital leadership. You will be equipped with the right processes and people capabilities to ride the digital wave and to thrive in the digital economy. Who is This Programme For?

This leadership programme is uniquely designed to nurture next-gen business and digital leaders who will drive and integrate customer, people and technology strategies to transform and accelerate their businesses in the digital economy.

We invite suitably qualified professionals to join this programme, who are:

  • Are already leading transformation and need to move from delivering initiatives to shaping enterprise-wide strategy.
  • Are moving into a digital, transformation or innovation leadership role and need the breadth to lead across business and technology.
  • Are responsible for AI adoption but need to translate emerging technologies into business value.
  • Are expected to influence across organisational boundaries and mobilise people, talent and stakeholders around transformation.
  • Are preparing for their next leadership role and want to strengthen their strategic and digital leadership credentials.

Programme Curriculum

The Master of Technology in Digital Leadership programme builds on a comprehensive curriculum comprising 9 courses and a digital leadership capstone project. It is delivered through executive style teaching, guest speakers as well as highly interactive learning experience with peer learners from diverse industries. Evaluation will be through a combination of continuous assessments, class participation, case studies and capstone project with real-world application.

The programme is a 44-unit Master degree based on 3 key aspects of transformation: DEFINING Strategic Ambition, DRIVING Transformation and DEPLOYING for Lasting Impact. The curriculum strikes a balance between building deep leadership capabilities and functional skills and will be complemented by activities outside the classroom to reinforce learning.

DEFINING Strategic Ambition


Courses:

Digital Organisation Models

Analyse digital and AI-enabled organisation models and the considerations for applying them.

Participants acquire the skill set to analyse, evaluate digital and AI-enabled organisation models and the implementation considerations for such models. Topics include SWOT analysis on leveraging Industry 4.0 and Smart Nation trends and opportunities, evaluation of digital and AI operating-model archetypes, the building blocks of an AI-ready digital organisation, and applying technology and AI innovation alongside business innovation.

Strategic Thinking & Digital Foresight

Use strategic thinking, foresight and scenario planning, including AI and emerging-technology trends, to shape transformation.

Participants acquire the skill set for strategic thinking and robust foresight to identify and shape digital and AI-enabled transformation for social change. Topics include application of strategy frameworks for digital and AI transformation, sense-making techniques, trends, horizon scanning & market driver analysis for scenario planning & strategy development, building organisational digital and AI capacity.  

Digital Business Strategy

Develop digital and AI-enabled business strategies, product/service portfolios, transformation roadmaps and business cases.

Participants acquire the skill set to create digital and AI-enabled business strategy and develop the digital product/service portfolio needed to transform the business.Topics include frameworks and strategies for creating a digital business, developing the digital/AI product or service portfolio & transformation roadmap, valuing and justifying the business case for AI and digital investment, leadership skills to collaborate with key stakeholders to drive and evolve the digital strategy. 

 


 

DRIVING Transformation


Courses:

Innovation by Design

Orchestrate human-centric innovation and AI-powered experimentation to pioneer new business models and revenue streams

Leaders learn to drive enterprise-wide innovation by integrating human insight with AI as a strategic creative partner. You will master frameworks for reimagining products, services and customer experiences; build a culture of calculated risk-taking and rapid validation; and leverage open innovation ecosystems to outpace disruption. Topics include design leadership at scale, AI-augmented ideation and prototyping, customer experience transformation and ecosystem orchestration for sustained competitive advantage.


Mastering Digital Architecture

Shape digital architectures that enable agility, scalability and business transformation in an AI-enabled enterprise.

Participants acquire the skill set to guide the evolution of digital architecture to support business agility, innovation and new digital and AI-driven business models, regardless of their technical background. They develop the conceptual fluency and decision-making skills to evaluate architectural choices, navigate technology trade-offs to align technology investments with business value. Topics include architectural trends shaping digital and AI transformation, key considerations for architecting AI-ready and agentic capabilities alongside new business models, leveraging data as a strategic architectural asset, platform and ecosystem architecture, and architecture governance to ensure coherence, compliance and alignment with enterprise strategy.



Digital Agility & Change Leadership

Lead organistaions to sense, respond and adapt to changing markets and AI-driven disruption.

Participants acquire the skill set to lead their organisation with the ability to sense, response and adapt quickly to market changes and evolving customer needs in a complex and volatile digital business environment today. Topics include practices of agile leadership style, implementation of agile practices, adopting a digital- and AI-first mindset, and developing cohesive change leadership strategies to increase organisation's agility and digital quotient.

Talent & Leadership Pathways

Build high-performing, AI-fluent digital workforces and strengthen self-awareness and influencing capabilities. 

Participants acquire the skill set to lead high-performing AI-fluent digital workforce, drive change and interact strategically across boundaries with multiple stakeholders in the complex business environment, through developing leadership quality such as self-awareness, strategic thinking, and influencing skills. Topics include creating responsive organisation, developing competencies of the digital leader, harnessing talent from everywhere and the learning pathways and development for future-ready AI-augmented workforce. 

 


 

DEPLOYING for Lasting Impact

 

Courses:

Managing Digitalisation Complexity

Navigate volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity, including risks introduced by AI, to sustain advantage.

Participants acquire the skill set to deal with volatility, uncertainty, complexity, ambiguity (VUCA) in an AI-accelerated digital economy. Topics include system thinking,  digital modernisation, scaling enterprise product management, understanding and improving complex ecosystems, strategies for crisis and risk management, and driving process and operational excellence in increasingly AI-enabled, networked organisations.

Digital Governance

Establish accountability and decision rights, including responsible AI governance, aligned to corporate governance and risk management.

Participants acquire the skill set to develop a digital and AI governance framework that establishes accountability, key roles and decision-making authority aligned to corporate governance, policies and risk management. Topics include evolving traditional IT and data governance to address risk, ethics and compliance; collaborating with senior management and key stakeholders, establishing linkages between digital/AI and broader corporate governance practices to ensure effective risk and performance management.

Digital Leadership Capstone

A key highlight of the MDL programme is the 11-month Digital Leadership Capstone Project, which brings together the knowledge, skills and perspectives you have developed throughout the programme. You will reflect on, apply and synthesise your learning to address a real-world organisational challenge, with a focus on shaping business transformation and creating new sources of value by leveraging digital technologies and AI as enablers. Working in small groups and supported by expert mentors, you will develop and deliver a capstone project that translates your learning into meaningful, impactful outcomes.

Timetable & Exams

 Part-Time MDL Programme Time-Table


Course participants will be assessed through a combination of continuous assessment assignments and class participation, as well as deliverables from the capstone project module with real-world application.

To become MDL graduates, participants are required to successfully complete and pass all 9 courses and a digital leadership capstone project:

  • In no two consecutive semesters have a GPA of less than 2.5
  • In no three consecutive semesters have a GPA of less than 3.0
  • Achieve a minimum GPA of 3.0 after completing the entire programme..

Note:
  1. The miscellaneous fees payable are set out here .
  2. If you are an NUS Alumni, NUS will extend you a 20% subsidy of the Tuition Fee and no other subsidy shall apply concurrently.
  3. With effect from 1 January 2024, individuals using credit/debit card and eWallet to make payment via NUSFastPay will have to pay a 1% processing fee.
  4. All study awards and subsidies are only for eligible self-paying students.
  5. NUS-ISS will be collecting a non-refundable and non-transferable acceptance fee of S$5,000 (S$5,450 inclusive of 9% GST), which will be credited towards your tuition fees, upon acceptance of the offer.

Admission & Application

Applicants must possess the following pre-requisites:

  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution preferably in Science, Engineering, Computing, Business or a related discipline and a grade point average of at least B
  • A minimum of 5 years of full-time relevant work experience after first degree
  • Demonstrate proficiency in the English language (written and spoken)
  • Received a favourable assessment at admissions interview conducted by NUS-ISS.
  • Admission is on a competitive basis and preference will be given to applicants with related job experiences

  • If your native tongue and medium of university instruction is not in English, please submit your TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) or IELTS (International English Language Testing System) score as evidence of your proficiency in English.

  • Applicants taking the TOEFL iBT from 21 January 2026 onwards will continue to be assessed on the 0 - 120 grading scale.
  • It is mandatory to include the Institution code of NUS-ISS for TOEFL (Code: 2432).
  • TOEFL and IELTS are only valid for two years from the test date and the validity should not expire before the beginning of the application period for the coursework programme.
  • NUS only accepts TOEFL iBT scores from a single test date, not MyBest scores.

Step 3:     You can proceed to apply online.  Remember to upload all the required supporting documents under the “Documents Upload” section before you do the online submission.  You can refer to our FAQ.

Step 4:     Please ensure you submit your online application(s) and make online payment for the application fee (non-refundable) of S$50.00 per application (exclude prevailing GST).

  1. Applications that are incomplete, including missing supporting document(s), will not be processed.
  2. Applicants who are found to have given inaccurate or false information will be required to withdraw from the programme.
  3. All payments for application fee are non-refundable.
  4. Please note that the University has not engaged any external agencies to undertake student recruitment on its behalf. Candidates interested in our graduate programmes are advised to apply directly to the University and not through any agents. Candidates who apply through agents will not have any added advantage in gaining admission and the University reserves the right to reject such applications without giving reasons.
