Valedictorian, Ms Png Sher Wei, sharing her speech.

Sher Wei who has a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology, had no prior background in the Information Technology field.  Earlier in her career, she managed public relations roles for organisations such as National Arts Council and the Agri-Food & Veterinary Authority of Singapore.

“I had no prior experience in this field. However, thanks to my mentors at NUS-ISS, I gained valuable and transferable skills during my Graduate Diploma in Systems Analysis programme,” she added. Sher Wei completed two internships, the first with Accenture. As a Full Stack Developer Intern, she was responsible for leading her team in smoothly conducting system integration tests, and user acceptance testing via the PEGA System applications. She then completed an internship with ST Engineering where she developed an integrated mobile and web application, using Kotlin language and Angular Framework.

A GDipSA graduate's journey

In order to transit into a digital professional within a year, our GDipSA graduates had to master five programming languages over the course of seven months and complete projects that involved developing IT solutions utilising Web, Mobile, and Machine learning technologies. They also underwent a rigorous month-long project that includes product ideation, problem-solving, user experience design, system analysis and design, coding, testing, and implementation. And experienced a five-month internship to apply their newly acquired knowledge, in real-world scenarios, developing and delivering digital solutions that clients required.

Proud parents and loved ones filled the room as the day ensued with many memories etched for life at this milestone event, and to that we want to wish all graduates, a heartiest congratulations once again! Your hard work and dedication have paid off, leading you to this significant milestone in your life. Your future is bright, and we can't wait to see all the amazing things you will accomplish.
