NUS-ISS staff pose with our signature hand sign
Held at the Conrad Centennial Singapore on 30 July 2024, the NUS-ISS Annual Luncheon 2024 was a vibrant celebration of our theme, "Celebrating Digital Excellence". This year's event highlighted our NUS-ISS 2030 strategy, focusing on executive education, graduate programmes, industry and international engagement, and organisational development.
At the event's commencement, the "Year-in-Review 2023" video was presented, taking us on a notable journey of 2023. The video highlighted the advancements achieved by NUS-ISS and its significant contributions to the digital domain.
Mrs Josephine Teo, Minister for Digital Development and Information, and Minister-in-charge of Smart Nation and Cybersecurity, graced the event as the Guest-of-Honour. She delivered a powerful speech, highlighting the pivotal role of organisations such as NUS-ISS in supporting the Singapore government's digitalisation and Smart Nation initiatives. She mentioned, "This is where we can see NUS-ISS playing a very important role. You already have very solid foundations over the course of so many years. I saw from the video that you have graduated 178,000 people through a variety of programmes: some full-time, some part-time."
Reflecting on our achievements, Minister Teo shared inspiring stories of the eight NUS-ISS alumni she met before the NUS-ISS Annual Luncheon 2024 commenced. She mentioned, "And I should say that they are fine examples of how in Singapore, far from becoming fearful that AI will take away people's jobs, replace us, they are fine examples of how we can once again embrace technology, use it to enhance our own human capabilities, keep humans in the loop for the things that matter most, and continue to create for ourselves a next bound of growth, a next bound of opportunity, a next bound of progression that we would like to see for not just the physically young, but also the mentally young in our midst."
Ms Janet Ang, Chairman of the Management Board of NUS-ISS, delivers her opening address
Ms Janet Ang, Chairman of the Management Board of NUS-ISS, reflected on our growth and future direction, mentioning that the NUS-ISS 2030 strategy is a renewal of our commitment to the NUS-ISS mission of accelerating and shaping the next curve of digital excellence. She mentioned that the institute has evolved and grown from strength to strength over the past four decades. "As we look to the future, we are guided by our NUS-ISS 2030 mission and our unwavering commitment to keeping Singapore at the forefront of change. Our greatest achievements lie ahead of us. We will continue to lead the way in equipping individuals and organisations in Singapore and beyond with the core competencies needed for the road ahead."
