NUS-ISS Learning Festival 2024 is back with its ninth edition to deliver invaluable insights into emerging trends and technologies, with key focuses on areas such as Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI), Data Science and Cybersecurity. Fuelled by the impact of the evolving technological landscape, this event aims to bring practice-based lecturers, tech talents and thought leaders together to address key challenges, state-of-the-art technologies and explore opportunities to drive sustainable business transformation.
With more than 1,000 sign-ups for the Learning Festival 2024, attendees will have the chance to gain new perspectives on up-and-coming trends, uncover cutting-edge digital product developments and key challenges through a series of talks, dynamic panel discussions and interactive workshops. during this event.
Chief Executive Officer of NUS-ISS, Mr Khoong Chan Meng, said, “At this pivotal moment in our digital landscape where we are constantly seeing changes in the way we live, work and play, it is essential that we come together to delve into emerging trends and address the pressing challenges they bring. By sharing knowledge and insights, we not only stay ahead of the curve but also drive innovation and growth.”

Beyond Machine Learning: Applying Generative AI to Combat Email Scams
• Uncover the latest scamming trends and social engineering techniques with insights from cybersecurity data, and learn practical tips to protect digital life.
The Shift to Product Management: A Roadmap to Transformation in the Public Sector
• Learn how the shift from project-based to product-centric management is transforming Singapore's public sector, and acquire strategies for upskilling teams and managing organisational change to achieve sustainable and impactful outcomes.
Learning Agility - The Pivotal Factors

Workshops

Blue-team Workshop: Prevent Hybrid Network Attacks
• A hands-on demonstration that covers practical experience in analysing behaviour-based indicators of compromise, in-depth attack investigations, and using Vectra AI's network detection tools and third-party threat investigation resources.
The NUS-ISS Learning Festival will run from August to October 2024. As part of the programme line-up, NUS-ISS and NUS Office of Alumni Relations will be co-organising a panel discussion at the Shaw Foundation Alumni House, NUS on the 3 September 2024, 7pm that focuses on Generative AI. Titled “The Rising Threat of Deepfakes - Understanding the Surge and Its Implications”, the session will explore the risks of deepfakes through insights from technology, academia, and law, aiming to balance innovation with security and trust in our digital age.
After last year’s resounding success, the Learning Festival will also bring back the NUS-ISS TalentXperience on 25 October 2024. The inaugural event had achieved participation of almost 180 students and 14 leading companies including Health Sciences Authority, KPMG Singapore and The Coca-Cola Company, among others.
The NUS-ISS TalentXperience underscores NUS-ISS’ commitment to grow the support ecosystem for internship and employment. It is designed to connect graduate students with leading companies by providing a platform where students can interact with company representatives and broaden their professional networks. They will have the opportunity to undertake internships to help them develop advanced skills and gain industry-relevant experience, giving them a competitive head start in the technology-driven future.
