Established through collaboration between NUS, IBM, and the Singapore government, NUS-ISS was founded with the mission of addressing Singapore’s growing demand for skilled IT professionals in 1981. In the same year, we launched the flagship Graduate Diploma in Systems Analysis (GDipSA) programme. Still running strong today, GDipSA was pivotal in alleviating the national IT manpower shortage in the 1980s.
Throughout the years, NUS-ISS has been at the forefront of key initiatives in Singapore's digital transformation journey. In the 1990s, we played a crucial role in national efforts like e-Government, while the 2000s saw us driving expertise in emerging areas such as data analytics, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and digital transformation. As the country embarked on Smart Nation and digital sustainability initiatives, NUS-ISS continued to equip professionals with the skills and knowledge to lead in a rapidly evolving digital world.
Fast forward to now, with over four decades of excellence, NUS-ISS has shaped the careers of countless professionals, marking significant milestones, pioneering initiatives, and making impactful contributions that have helped transform the tech landscape in Singapore.
Beyond the shores of Singapore, we have forged international partnerships with universities, corporations, and governments, playing an increasingly influential role in workforce transformation across the ASEAN region and beyond.
As we celebrate this incredible journey in conjunction with NUS’ 120th anniversary this year, we’re thrilled to invite you, whether you are current/former staff or alumni of NUS-ISS to take part in the NUS-ISS Time Capsule Project. This is your chance to contribute to the legacy.
The NUS-ISS Time Capsule Project is more than just a collection of memorabilia. What are the memories that stand out for you? What moments made your NUS-ISS experience special? What are your hopes for the future of the institute? Every contribution is a piece of the puzzle that holds meaningful or sentimental value to the history of NUS-ISS.
