The Digital Services Management Programme was created specially for National University of Singapore (NUS), Executive and Administrative staff.

Objective

As part of NUS focus in up skilling, the objective of this programme was to inspire the teams in the areas of user centric design, product thinking and agility practices so that the teams can explore opportunities to improve operations and service delivery.

Programme

Using the NUS-ISS Active Learning, Problem Solving (ALPS) approach, more than 230 participants and 40 teams from various university departments have come together to gain fresh perspectives and practical tools for solving workplace challenges while driving the university s transformation. Each team engages in a project based format, combining interactive classroom workshops with online content to deepen learning. This blended approach enables teams to immediately apply their insights to real and relevant challenges within the university.

Under the guidance of facilitators, teams navigate problem discovery and human centred research to uncover new opportunities for innovation. They learn to prioritise high impact problems using a data informed approach before crafting a vision and defining key metrics to align on desired outcomes. Through prototyping, teams refine and communicate their solution strategies. Additionally, they are introduced to agile mindset and tools to organise their work and plan for implementing their products or processes later.

Throughout this journey, teams take ownership of their learning and progress by collaborating and iterating beyond the formal class setting, fully leveraging each others perspectives and skills.

Outcome

By the end of the programme, teams leave with a comprehensive project proposal that synthesises their learning—from defining the problem space through research to developing innovative solutions using the methodologies covered in the program. Equipped with this proposal, they are ready to take the next steps with a project sponsor.

Learner’s Experience

“I enjoyed analysing the problem in depth, normally I just see problems in surface level without finding out the root cause.”

Learner’s Experience

“Group work! It has been a big part of DFA right from the start, which is different from other courses. Quite insightful working with people from different backgrounds and perspectives.”
