Health Informatics Jumpstart

This course covers essential concepts of Health Informatics though the “dual-perspective” lens, helping participants kickstart their journey into effective communication with Health(care) Professionals, Health Informaticians and IT Professionals.

This will be a “mindset change initiative” as opposed to skillset building. As such it is not easy to measure “success”, given the concepts introduced requires acceptance and deliberate practice by the participants. The proposed course duration is 2 days, to be conducted over 4 sessions (in sequence). This is to allow flexibility (in terms of participant’s schedule) and to allow reinforcement of core concepts. Key emphasis will be centered on the “Question  and Answer” segments embedded into the sessions, this is to address the dynamics  and volatility of the subject

Participants will be issued with a Digital Certificate upon successful completion.

What Will Be Covered

Session 1: 
a) Understanding Health and HealthCare
- Explores the different segments of health, the general characteristics and how they tie together 

b) Understanding Health Informatics
- Explores the purpose of Health Informatics and how it differs from IT and Digital Health in conjunction to clinical workflow. Will also examine related concepts in Healthcare Quality and Patient Safety

c) Standards, Profile and Terminologies
- Examines various interoperability and related standards, profiles & terminologies and their co-relation to clinical workflow

Session 2: 
d) Digital Health Records Essentials
- Examines the common models of Digital Health Records, Clinical Decision Support System and sub-components and how it corelates back to the respective clinical workflow(s) in various health segments
- Examines the common models of Close Loop Medication Administration (cross clinical segments), Medical Imaging Informatics and Nursing Informatics and their underlying nuances with respective to clinical workflow
- Note: To overlay the generic Clinical Information Systems into the IHiS’s eco-system

Session 3: 
e) “Navigating” Health and Healthcare
- Explores the common Personas in Health(care) and perspective with regards to;
o Health Data, Clinical Processes & Workflow
o Stakeholders and project Management in Health & Healthcare

Session 4 : 
f) Adopting an Agility Mindset
- Introduces the “Agility Mindset” - ability to adapt to change, collaborate with health(care) professionals and delivering value to this segment
