Overview
Intelligent sensing systems make sense of sensory data, including vision, audio and 3D sensory data. It has emerged as the primary enabling technology for a wide range of applications over the past decades, and will continue to contribute to be the core component of future technologies. To be more specific, computer vision is a subset of mainstream artificial intelligence that deals with the science of making computers or machines visually enabled, i.e., they can analyse and understand image data. The visual data collected by the cameras can be converted into meaningful insights which can be acted upon to help improve business processes and strategies.
This graduate certificate teaches the skills and techniques required to build Intelligent Sensing Systems that are able to make decisions based on visual and audio sensory signals. Example systems include object detection and human behavior understanding in video surveillance, defect segmentation in manufacture, 3D vision localisation for robot and vehicle control, human activity recognition using audio-visual data, etc.
Key Takeaways
- Develop, design and integrate intelligent systems that can reason and make decisions based on visual and audio inputs.
- Build intelligent sensing systems, such as object detection, segmentation, and tracking; video analytics and behavior understanding; 3D and RGB-D vision processing; multiple modal data sense making from audio-visual data
- Apply current best practices and tools for building intelligent sensing systems, implementation and optimisations.

Note:
1. The Graduate Certificate (Grad Cert) fees above are valid from 1 July 2022 to 30 June 2025. NUS-ISS reserves the right to amend the fees without notice.
2. The subsidy applies on the start date of the first course of the Grad Cert. Full payment must be made for all courses under the Grad Cert before the start of the first course.
3. Participants who enrol for the entire Grad Cert must join the timetable for the through-train MTech programme. Participants who wish to have a more flexible timetable may opt to take the same courses under NUS-ISS Executive Education but will not be entitled to Grad Cert subsidies.
4. NUS-ISS subsidies are only for eligible self-paying participants.
5. The subsidy will be pro-rated by the courses taken in the Grad Cert. If a participant is given a waiver for a component course, the subsidy will be reduced in proportion.
6. Participants who have previously taken a course, whether in part or in full, but have not received a waiver for the course will not receive subsidy for subsequent attendance of the modular course. The overall subsidy for the Grad Cert will be reduced in proportion.
7. There is no subsidy for the Grad Cert Practice Module.
