Janet ANG

Vice President, IBM Asia Pacific


Janet Ang was appointed Managing Director of IBM Singapore in July 2011. In this role, she is responsible for the operations of IBM Singapore, including all product and services division, as well as the company's sales and distribution business.

Prior to this role, Janet served as Vice President (VP), Strategic Services, IBM Greater China Group (GCG), and before that, as VP, Infrastructure Technology Services (ITS), IBM GCG.

From May 2005 to January 2009, before returning to IBM, Janet was VP with the Lenovo Group. She joined Lenovo when it acquired the IBM PCD business and she was part of the new Lenovo global transition leadership team. Janet became head of Lenovo's Global Desktop Business Unit operations and led the successful integration of the former IBM Desktop unit in Raleigh, USA and Lenovo China's Desktop unit in Beijing into a Global Desktop Business Unit with worldwide mission and operations in Beijing, China. She oversaw the successful turnaround of Lenovo's global desktop business.

Before joining Lenovo in 2005, Janet was with IBM for 23 years. She held various positions during her tenure with IBM including VP, Personal Systems Group, IBM GCG in 2004; Managing Director, IBM Singapore from 2001 to 2003; Director, AP Sales Operations from 1999 to 2001; and as an international assignee to IBM Asia Pacific assuming the role of Director, Marketing, SMB, based in Tokyo, Japan from 1998 to 1999.

Janet serves on various committees in the community. She is an elected member on the Board of Trustees of the International School of Beijing (ISB) and is Chairperson of ISB's Head of School Transition Team. Janet was elected for a second-term as Vice Chairman of the Singapore Chamber of Commerce in China (SingCham) and is a senior member of the Singapore Computer Society, a member of the International Women's Forum (Singapore Chapter) and member of Business China (Singapore).

Janet holds a Business Administration (Honors) degree from the National University of Singapore. She is married to Anthony Cheah, and they have four lovely daughters.
