What is a Masters in Enterprise Digital Technology Management?

Managing in technology has never required more. The range of skills expected of technology managers is expanding across product, delivery, people, data, governance, and commercial decisions, and most of these skills are never explicitly taught. They are picked up on the job, unevenly, under pressure.

The NUS Master of Science in Enterprise Digital Technology Management (MSc EDTM) gives you the skills to manage confidently in the age of AI across all of it, and the credentials to match. One integration course, four Graduate Certificates chosen from eleven options representing the full range of modern technology management capability, and a capstone completed part-time at a pace that works for a working professional. Each Graduate Certificate is a recognised qualification in its own right, and credits are valid for five years. Start with what you need now. Stack toward a Masters degree when you are ready.

Who Should Attend This Course

EDTM is designed for mid-career professionals managing in technology, not only those with technical backgrounds, but anyone whose role requires them to lead, govern, or deliver outcomes through technology.

  • The Technical Manager has strong technical foundations and is developing the broader management perspective needed to lead teams, manage portfolios, and operate credibly across business and organisational contexts.
  • The Digital Manager has built expertise in a digital specialism, from product, data, UX to agile delivery, and is now taking on broader execution-layer responsibilities that require an integrated management framework across domains.
  • The Business Manager brings solid people and business skills and is increasingly responsible for technology-intensive programmes and digital initiatives, and needs fluency in how technology work is managed, governed, and delivered.

Courses

The programme comprised 43 units and is structured for working professionals completing part-time over two years.

Managing Digital Technology in Practice (MDTP) is the mandatory integration course. It provides the frameworks that connect the programme, from helping participants understand how capability areas relate to each other and to the realities of managing technology at different stages, scales, and organisational contexts. MDTP is open to all and is ideally taken towards the start of the Masters programme.

The Programme offers a choice of four Graduate Certificates from eleven options. There is no prescribed pathway. Participants design their own learning journey based on their current role, their capability gaps, and where they want to go. Each Graduate Certificate is a recognised qualification in its own right, stackable toward the Masters degree within five years.

A Capstone Project integrates learning across the programme through a substantive, individually supervised piece of work applied to a real organisational challenge.

Participants select four Graduate Certificates from the list below.

Graduate Certificate in Digital Product Strategy and Inception

Covers the key aspects of good product leadership beyond technical expertise: understanding user needs, market dynamics, product positioning, and making informed decisions before committing to build.

Courses:

  • Digital Product Strategy (4 days): building strategic capability for sustainable, competitive products, with intensive work on real challenges.
  • Managing Digital Products (4 days): a foundational introduction to product management: discovering, developing, and delivering products through hands-on exercises.
  • Service Design (3 days): design thinking tools and methods: user-centred research, ideation, validation, and collaborative practice.

Graduate Certificate in Digital Product Growth and Execution

Covers creating, delivering, and scaling digital platforms and products: market fit, platform architecture, and delivery, treated together rather than as separate disciplines.

Courses:

  • Architecting Platforms as a Business (4 days): designing scalable platforms: ecosystem dynamics, value exchange, technical solutions for growth.
  • Digital Product Delivery (3 days): delivering products at scale: team orchestration, technology stack management, continuous delivery.
  • Strategic Product Market Fit (3 days): achieving product-market fit through customer insight, market segmentation, and data-driven decisions.

Graduate Certificate in Artificial Intelligence Management and Governance

Covers what a technology manager needs to govern AI responsibly, across four practical dimensions rather than one general awareness course. No coding or legal background is required for any of the four courses; the certificate is built for the people making AI decisions, not the people building AI systems.

Courses:

  • Responsible AI Playbook (RAIP) (3 days): organised around the enterprise AI system lifecycle, covering responsible AI risk across traditional AI, generative AI, and agentic AI systems, structured around six dimensions: explainability and transparency, bias and fairness, safety and robustness, privacy and security, sustainability, and accountability.
  • AI & Cybersecurity for Architects and Managers (AICAM) (3 days): AI security from a governance and architecture perspective: threat modelling, governance and risk frameworks, secure architecture principles, and the security implications of LLMs, RAG systems, and AI agents.
  • AI Copyright, Privacy and the Law (ACPL) (3 days): legal risk across the AI lifecycle: copyright, authorship and licensing in generative AI; privacy and data governance risks; liability and accountability for autonomous AI agents; and practical enterprise legal-risk controls.
  • (Generative) AI Governance (GAIG) (3 days): governance structures, decision rights, and policy for running AI oversight as an organisational function: comparative regulation (EU AI Act, Singapore's Model AI Governance Framework), governance operating models, and policy lifecycle management as AI capability and regulation continue to shift.

Graduate Certificate in Agile Project Management and Change Leadership

Covers managing agile projects in environments that are genuinely complex: multiple stakeholders, real risk, and goals that do not always align cleanly across the organisation.

Courses:

  • Agile Project Planning, Execution and Risk Management (6 days): scoping, gathering requirements, identifying stakeholders, and allocating resources using agiles and hybrid approaches, with an emphasis on iterative development and continuous delivery. Also identifying, analysing, and mitigating project risk.
  • Change Management and Project Delivery in Complex Environments (6 days): assessing organisational readiness and building a change strategy for agile projects. Also delivery in complex settings, vendor-client relationships, stakeholder management, compliance and handover.

Graduate Certificate in Data Management and Leadership

Covers managing data as a strategic asset: leadership, culture, literacy, and access, aimed at organisations that make decisions on the evidence their data actually holds.

Courses:

  • Data Management Basics (6 days): data as a strategic asset: leadership and culture, data and AI for transformation and decision-making, building data and AI literacy, change management, and an introduction to data governance. Also the data lifecycle: integration and processing, data quality, storage and master data management, sharing through APIs and data products, the data foundations of AI trust, security and privacy, and archiving and recovery.
  • Enterprise Data Architecture for Analytics and AI (6 days): DataOps and automation: data observability, CI/CD for data, and workflow orchestration. Also multi-cloud and serverless data architectures, metadata management and data lineage, and the relationship between data and enterprise architecture.

Graduate Certificate in Digital Sustainability Management

Covers designing, managing, and scaling digital sustainability initiatives: creating business value through digital transformation while managing environmental and social impact.

Courses:

  • Digital Sustainability Introduction (6 days): Singapore's Digital Sustainability Framework (DSF), disclosure and reporting requirements, sustainable sourcing and procurement, and managing sustainable assets across hardware and software.
  • Digital Sustainability Innovation (6 days): managing technology for sustainable customer experience and operational efficiency, applying design thinking to sustainable innovation: driving, scaling, and assessing its impact.

Graduate Certificate in Healthcare Technology Management

Equips healthcare leaders with a systems-based approach to health and care transformation: diagnosing system challenges, understanding the digital and AI foundations of modern health systems, and designing transformation interventions that improve service delivery and operational performance.

Courses:
  • AI and Digital Innovation in Healthcare (3 days): the digital foundations of health systems: data, informatics, platforms, and infrastructure. Examines how AI and generative AI expand what's possible, and the governance and leadership responsible adoption requires.
  • Digital Lean for Health Services (online blended learning, 5 weeks/2 days equivalent): applying Digital Lean principles to redesign workflows, reduce waste, and improve service delivery.
  • Systems Thinking for Health and Care (3 days): developing a systemic understanding of health and care: purpose, boundaries, stakeholders, and how outcomes emerge across the system. Includes practical mapping to diagnose system behaviour and identify leverage points.

Graduate Certificate in Leading Experience Management and Design

Lead the design and continuous improvement of customer and user experiences across digital products and services.

Courses:
  • Experience Design Leadership: leadership skills to design and use digital experiences as differentiators for innovation and transformation, focused on creative problem-solving and organisational empathy.
  • Customer Journey Optimisation: measuring and optimising customer journeys, integrating experience design with business strategy.
  • Leadership and Organisational Alignment: leadership actions to drive alignment across organisational silos.
  • Strategic Application of Technology Trends: applying trends such as AI, personalisation, and circular design to experience strategy.

Graduate Certificate in Strategic Business Skills

Covers the financial and commercial side of running technology initiatives: financial management, vendor management, business development, and the governance needed to keep control without slowing things down.

Courses:
  • Financial Management and Strategic Decision-Making (6 days): building financial acumen for technology budgets and investment decisions: business cases, operating costs, and aligning financial decisions with strategy.
  • Strategic Vendor Management and Business Development (6 days): vendor management and technology acquisition: build-versus-buy analysis, vendor evaluation, contract negotiation, and risk management, alongside business development: identifying opportunities, building alliances, and aligning partnerships with organisational goals. Also the governance frameworks that balance innovation with control.

Graduate Certificate in Talent Leadership, Management and Engagement

Covers two distinct capabilities a technology manager needs in roughly equal measure: leading a team directly, and influencing outcomes across parts of the organisation with no reporting line to you.

Courses:
  • Building and Managing High-Performing Teams (6 days): the people-leadership side of running a team: emotional intelligence, team dynamics, leadership styles, and the ethical judgement calls that come with managing people. Also, the practical end: job descriptions, interviewing, performance management, onboarding, and team development.
  • Strategic Communication, Organisational Influence and Collaboration (6 days): translating complex or technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders, and building influence and buy-in across parts of the organisation you don't manage directly. Includes specific high-stakes situations: crisis communications, change initiative, conflict resolution, team restructuring, and stakeholder negotiation.

Graduate Certificate in Technology Operations Leadership

Covers building and maintaining technology operations that hold up under pressure: delivery optimisation, system resilience, modernisation and cybersecurity

Courses:
  • Optimising Technology Delivery and Resilience (6 days): building resilience into products, teams, and processes, resilience patterns, incident response, and business continuity. Also designing and optimising delivery piplelines for speed and quality.
  • Modernising and Securing Technology Operations (6 days): assessing legacy systems and managing modernisation without disrupting operations. Also cybersecurity fundamentals such as cryptography, security frameworks, identity management, and secure network architecture.

Corporate Graduate Certificates

Alongside the eleven general-track Graduate Certificates, EDTM also recognises Corporate Graduate Certificates developed jointly with partner organisations to meet specific workforce needs. These are curated to the same rigour, length of study, and assessment standard as the general-track GCs, and are sometimes co-taught by practitioners from the partner organisation itself, giving participants direct exposure to real practitioner challenges within that domain.

Capstone Project

The 8-unit Capstone is the integrating requirement of the EDTM programme, taken after completing the Graduate Certificate stage. Participants address a substantive technology management challenge from their own professional context or a partner organisation, producing both an applied output, be it a strategy, framework, or implementation analysis, and a practitioner research paper that situates the work within a broader evidence base.

Both components are completed under the guidance of an industry-experienced advisor and assessed to Masters-level standards. The Capstone can take up to 24 months, allowing participants to pace the work alongside professional commitments.

The NUS-ISS Career Services Office helps students to match jobs based on their skills and experience. There will be bi-yearly Career Fairs held for students and graduates to network with employers. However, successful employment will depend on the employers.

The most important skill is to get the job done and be persistent. You need to be broad-based and the technology does not matter.
