Dr Xavier Xie
Senior Lecturer & Consultant, Artificial Intelligence Practice

Xavier is currently a Senior Lecturer and Consultant in the Artificial Intelligence Practice at NUS-ISS. Prior to this role, he taught Master and Ph.D. students at NTU in areas such as Industrial Automation, AI, and Robotics. Besides, he also served as the Lead Trainer for SkillsFuture courses regarding AI and Applied Robotics. Before transitioning to teaching, Dr. Xie worked as a Senior Scientist and Tech Lead at the Agency for Science, Technology, and Research, where he led several government-funded research projects and initiatives as Principal Investigator or Co-PI, some of which were successfully implemented in industries through technological transformation and licensing. Before that, he also had stints at P&G SGIC, ATMRI, and his startups as co-founder. Academically, he has chaired or co-chaired multiple IEEE conference sessions, such as IEEE ICAC 2022, IEEE IECON 2023, and IEEE UR 2024. Additionally, he held Robotic and AI Ethics Workshops in Lower Manhattan, New York City.
With over a decade of experience in AI-driven robotics, deep learning, and automation, Xavier’s expertise spans research, teaching, entrepreneurship, and managing large projects across various industries. He holds a Ph.D. in Mechatronics from Nanyang Technological University and a B.Eng. from Harbin Institute of Technology. His research interests include Unmanned Systems, Industrial Toolpath Optimization, and 3D Image Processing. Driven by a passion for advancing industrial efficiency and innovation, he is committed to helping industries achieve transformation through robotization and AI-based solutions, while actively promoting awareness of AI and demystifying AI
