Pauline11. Please tell us about your professional background

Formerly the Senior Vice President of Technology at SATS, I was responsible for leading the evolution technology and innovation. As digital evolution is key in achieving the organisation’s growth ambitions, I actively developed new competitive advantages to enable sustainable growth. We implemented Augmented Reality in air cargo logistics handling, smart watches for Technical Ramp Management, and Digital Twins were also built for the food production factories.

Prior to this, I was the Senior Vice President of NOL spearheading the organisation’s strategy technology across the world in 153 NOL locations in 104 countries. During this time, I led the REMODEL initiative to modernise the IT environment at all locations.

I also had the opportunity to work in the public sector within NCB, IDA and government agencies – conceptualising and leading multiple large government-wide initiatives that won international accolades such as eCitizen, Public Sector Infrastructure and the Singapore Government Standard Operating Environment programme that consolidated 80,000 PCs, around 800 networks and 73 agencies across Singapore Government.

3. Why did you choose to teach at NUS-ISS?

Believe it or not, I have always imagined myself going into teaching at some point in my life. I had fond memories of my student life in NUS so when this opportunity at my alma mater presented itself, I decided to take it on.

4. What do you enjoy most about your work?

I enjoy exploring new tech “toys”, and am also interested in creating new solutions to tackle technological challenges. We have to constantly strive to innovate and adapt, and look ahead into the future.

5. How do you keep up with the industry?

I believe talking to people as well as reading can broaden our horizons. If you are curious, you will constantly learn and discover new things.

6. What are your favorite activities when you are not working?

I enjoy computer gaming, watching television serials, traveling and hiking.

7. Tell us something about yourself that very few people know.

I really enjoy creating 3D jelly art during my free time and bringing happiness to my family and friends. Below is a photo of one of my intricate and colourful jelly creations.
