A Celebration of Partnership That Powers Real-World Transformation

Strong partnerships often begin with a shared intent to grow capabilities and create real impact. The collaboration between NUS-ISS and ST Engineering is one such example, bringing together practice-based learning and industry expertise to support professionals in building deeper, future-ready skills.

It all started with a simple email. For Mr Lim Kok Meng, Programme Manager at ST Engineering Mission Software & Services, Defence Systems, Naval, it was an invitation to explore further study through the NUS-ISS Stackable Master’s Programme. What seemed like a straightforward sign-up soon turned into a journey that reshaped how he approached both learning and work.

To him, it was a simple vision of tossing his mortarboard into the air on graduation day. What he did not anticipate was how much more the journey would come to mean. “I did not expect how practical it would be. I was applying what I learned to solving problems at work, and growing in confidence along the way,” he shared.

That same sense of pride filled the room at the recent NUS-ISS and ST Engineering Stackable Master's Graduation Celebration. Graduates went on stage to receive their certifications, cheered on by their colleagues, supervisors, and family members who had been part of their journey all along.

The event held special significance, as it celebrated the first cohort of learners to graduate with a master’s degree through the stackable pathway programme since its inception in 2021. In addition, it also recognised those who have been awarded Graduate Certificates and are progressing towards a Master of Technology through the stackable learning pathways.

A proud moment for the graduates from ST Engineering as they celebrate the completion of their master’s degree with NUS-ISS, joined by (Centre left) Mr Khoong Chan Meng, CEO of NUS-ISS, and (Centre right) Mr Percival Goh, Executive Vice President and Head of ST Engineering Mission Software & Services, marking the next step in their digital journey. They were joined on stage by fellow learners who have received their Graduate Certificates and are progressing towards their Master’s degrees.

This partnership between NUS-ISS and ST Engineering has enabled professionals to build skills progressively while staying fully engaged in their careers. As Mr Khoong Chan Meng, CEO of NUS-ISS, highlighted, “This stackable pathway is designed so that each step aligns with industry job roles and skill sets, enabling immediate application of learning.”

For graduates like Mr Eric Li, Senior Manager at ST Engineering Mission Software & Services, that balance made all the difference. “The MTech programme is highly valuable, especially for professionals who want to continue contributing at work while upgrading themselves meaningfully. It creates a strong balance between academic learning and workplace application,” he said.

The impact is not just personal. It is collective. Mr Percival Goh, Executive Vice President and Head of ST Engineering Mission Software & Services, summed it up well. “This milestone highlights both the achievements of our learners and the strength of this partnership. Through this programme, our engineers have developed not only technical depth, but also strong leadership capabilities, enabling them to drive innovation, create greater business impact, and contribute to the growth of ST Engineering and Singapore’s technology sector.”

Even though the celebration ceremony has come to a close, the journey continues for these graduates as they return to their workplaces with renewed confidence, fresh perspectives, and a stronger sense of purpose.
