Technopreneurship:
Enabling Innovation and a Start-up Ecosystem

Course Synopsis

This course will provide an overview of the Ecosystem and Policies to support Entrepreneurship and Incubating start-ups. It draws on the Singapore experience and JTC Launch Pad as a vibrant community for start-ups and incubators in the biomedical sciences, infocomm, media, electronics and engineering industries.

Course Outline

This course will cover the major elements of entrepreneurship activities, the key challenges faced in starting a venture, and highlight the critical factors for incubation and technology entrepreneurship.

Topics to be covered include

  • Ecosystem and Policies to support Entrepreneurship and Incubating start-ups
  • Introduction to the venture management through a mix of experiential learning
  • Singapore experience and JTC Launch Pad - is a vibrant community for start-ups and incubators in the biomedical sciences, infocomm, media, electronics and engineering industries
  • Key challenges faced in starting a venture.
  • Introduction to the “StackUp”, which is a curriculum in our Executive Education to transform individuals into aspiring technologists;
  • Skills required - from attitude and aptitude to technical competencies

Learning Objectives

  • For Policy makers and officers to get an appreciation and understanding of critical factors for incubation and technology entrepreneurship
  • For officers to obtain a hands-on, skill building and most importantly, mindset shift.
  • This fast-paced programme follows a structure that covers the major elements of start-up or entrepreneurship activity, focusing on key challenges faced in starting a venture.

Target Participants

Participants are expected to be government officials with 8-10 years in civil service who are responsible for policy development for Technopreneurship as a strategic national initiative for their country.
Proficiency in spoken and written English is expected.
