Overview
Data is the new oil of digital economy. When properly processed into big data solution, usable structured and unstructured data quickly becomes decision making tool. This allows organisations to react to market forces in a proactive manner. Combining the key skills of data processing, feature engineering, processing based on speciality libraries and techniques like statistical & machine learning algorithms, the big data solutions and analytics from the company’s (Transport, Supply Chain, Logistics, E-commerce, Retail, Marketing, F&B and Social Media & Entertainment, etc.) big data sources is an essential skill.
Big Data Scientist is equipped with knowledge of various forms of big data sources, big data access patterns, seamless interactive querying of heterogeneous data, building statistical and machine learning models using big data, create analytics and intelligence algorithms that work on big data systems.
The big data scientist is required to solve problems using large scale structured and unstructured data with the help of technologies. Big data scientist need a wide range of competencies, which will grow over time as the field evolves. Opportunities are expanding at a pace proportionate to the growth of big data itself and technology. And now there are more open source tools available than ever before to leverage. The big data scientist’s position is a highly sought-after role for any seasoned data science practitioner. There is an increased demand for big data scientists and companies are paying higher salaries to those who are qualified for this essential role due to industry-wide big data skill gap.
The Big Data Analytics Graduate Certificate programme equips aspiring data scientists with the necessary skills and knowledge to meet the challenges of large scale structured and unstructured data processing. The participants will learn various aspects of data processing needed to build scalable solutions. The participants will learn to build models by integrating multiple disparate large-scale data sources to derive data-driven insights and solutions.
This certificate accomplishes these objectives through the following individual courses:
Courses:
Big Data Engineering for Analytics
Recommender Systems
Processing Big Data For Analytics
When the participants finish these courses, they can sign up for the Graduate Certificate Practice Module. In this practice module, the participants will do a substantial real world project focusing on the outcomes above, and they will also sit for a Master’s level examination on the topic. (Please see the practice module descriptions for more details). When they successfully complete the Practice Module, they will be awarded the Graduate Certificate in Big Data Analytics.
