Overview
Data is the new oil of digital economy. When properly engineered into big data solution, usable data quickly becomes decision making tool. This allows organisations to react to market forces in a proactive manner. Combining the key skills of architecting big data systems, building scalable pipelines, designing real time systems and processing based on speciality libraries such as statistical, machine learning, graph and streams, the big data architect designs, integrates, and process insights from the company’s big data sources.
Big data architect is equipped with knowledge of various forms of big data sources, ingestion, storage, access patterns, storage lakes, seamless interactive querying of heterogeneous data, applications of machine learning algorithms, design for real time stream processing systems and mange NoSql/Newsql databases.
The big data architect is required to solve problems large scale data using technologies. Big data architect need a wide range of competencies, which will grow over time as the field evolves. Opportunities are expanding at a pace proportionate to the growth of big data itself. And now there are more open tools / cloud based resources than ever available to help. The big data architect is a highly sought role for any seasoned IT professionals. There is high demand for big data architects and companies are paying higher salaries to those who are qualified for this essential role due to industry-wide big data engineering skills gap.
The Engineering Big Data Graduate programme equips IT professionals with the necessary skills and knowledge to meet the challenges of large scale data engineering. The participants will learn various aspects of data engineering needed to build scalable resilient distributed big data solutions. The participants will learn to build information architecture by integrating multiple disparate large-scale data sources to derive data-driven insights. Participants will also learn stream based real time data processing techniques.
This certificate accomplishes these objectives through the following individual courses:
Courses:
Big Data Engineering for Analytics
Information Architecture for Data Driven Insights
Architecting Systems for Real Time Data Processing
When the participants finish these courses, they can sign up for the Graduate Certificate Practice Module. In this practice module, the participants will do a substantial real world project focusing on the outcomes above, and they will also sit for a Master’s level examination on the topic. (Please see the practice module descriptions for more details). When they successfully complete the Practice Module, they will be awarded the Graduate Certificate in Engineering Big Data.
