Matthew CHUA Chin Heng

Associate Lecturer & Consultant, Medical & Cybernetics Systems / Software Engineering & Design Practice


Dr. Matthew Chua is a lecturer, consultant and principal scientist at the NUS Institute of System Science where he is heading the Medical & Cybernetics Systems. He has worked on a joint collaborative project between NUS and Singapore General Hospital (SGH) to develop synthetic organ replacements for humans. His experience also includes soft robotics for medical applications, intelligent assistive devices for the elderly and medical implant devices for immediate voice restoration. His expertise knowledge in medicine and engineering allows him to innovate on Health Technologies with ease and makes him a highly sort after collaborator. He started his own research initiative to focus on the research and development of Transformative Smart Health Technologies and Gadgets. Additionally, he has been actively supervising both Masters and Doctoral students in their research theses since 2015.

On the side, he is a professional opera singer, being sort after for many local events and celebrations, including The SG50 Concert at the ParkThe Lee Kuan Yew Memorial Concert, NUS ISS 35th Anniversary Dinner, TTSH Gala dinner and many others.
