The Human x AI workshop is designed for teams to build confidence and competency in using AI as a working partner. It emphasises that successful AI adoption begins with a clear understanding of the human problem before applying technology.

Through a structured THINK – BUILD – TEST learning journey, participants collaborate on authentic problem statements drawn from their own organisational context, applying human-centred design thinking and AI-assisted prototyping tools to rapidly develop, validate, and refine innovative solutions. Rather than treating AI as a shortcut to a solution, the workshop trains participants to first develop clarity and confidence in the problem, mainly looking at: Who is affected, What the problem is, Why it happens, and So What the consequence is, and only after that they reach out to an AI tool.

The workshop enables participants to move beyond understanding AI conceptually by building and testing a working prototype, while learning how to integrate AI meaningfully into their everyday work.

This workshop is currently offered as a paid pilot session to support MDDI's AI Sprint initiative and delivered as a corporate run. Please contact us to arrange a session for your organisation.

Who Should Attend

  • Public sector and government agency professionals working in intact teams on real operational or service-delivery problems from their own organisation
  • Professionals with no or little prior coding or AI prototyping experience who want practical, hands-on exposure to AI-assisted problem-solving and rapid prototyping



What Will Be Covered

The workshop follows a single-day THINK – BUILD – TEST journey, framed by the idea that Human Thinking Meets AI Capability. Each segment moves participants directly from a short input to an applied team activity using their own problem statement.

THINK: Problem Discovery

  • To analyse problem-solution fit and distinguish genuine problems from solution traps, applying the 4C framework (Who / What / Why / So What) to formulate a validated problem statement
  • To diagnose surface-level symptoms and uncover root causes using techniques such as the 5 Whys
  • To evaluate the validity and strategic priority of a problem by synthesising quantitative evidence (data, analytics) and qualitative evidence (interviews, observations)
  • To design a success-metrics framework, including a North Star metric, to evaluate whether a proposed solution addresses the problem's impact

BUILD: AI Prototype

  • To generate solution concepts and map them to the user needs and pain points identified
  • To create a functional prototype using AI vibe-coding tools such as Figma Make and ChatGPT, translating a problem statement or concept sketch into a working interface

TEST: Product Validation

  • To evaluate prototype effectiveness through structured user testing and synthesise feedback using a critique method to guide iteration
  • To present prototypes in a short "Show & Tell" session

REFLECT: Human & AI Capabilities

  • To reflect on the 4C's of problem articulation and the 5C's of uniquely human capability (Curious, Context, Collaborate, Communicate, Connecting the Dots), and internalise where AI adds most value and where human judgement remains essential

Participants must bring their internet-enabled laptop. No prior coding experience is required.

Course Confirmation

All classes are subject to confirmation and NUS-ISS will send an acceptance email to participants one week prior to the commencement date. Confirmed registrants are to attend and complete all lectures, class exercises, workshops and assessments (where applicable). Additionally, all responses to feedbacks and surveys conducted by NUS-ISS and its partners must be submitted. All training and assessments will be delivered as described in the course webpage.
