Career Fair

The NUS-ISS Open Day on 16 August 2014 will be held in conjunction with Career Fair to attract potential students, current students, alumni, NICF short course trainees who are currently seeking employment and employers from the ICT industry to come together to learn and exchange from one another.

Featuring more than 10 employers from the ICT industry at the Career Fair, job seekers will be able to meet with prospective employers to find out on ICT-related openings for Professionals, Managers, Executives and Technicians (PMETs) available, or even be interviewed on the spot!

For employers, the pool of well-trained NICF short course trainees, current students and alumni will provide a ready talent pool for your recruitment. Meet and speak with them, including our students and alumni from the Master of Technology and Graduate Diploma in Systems Analysis programmes at the Networking Lunch to find the candidates you are looking for.

Our students will also be showcasing their award-winning projects from their internships. Employers who have projects on hand and are seeking to engage students as interns can also register with us.

Free Shuttle Bus Service (only on NUS-ISS Open Day & Career Fair, 16 Aug)

This is a two-way bus service shuttling between NUS-ISS and Clementi. The shuttle bus pick up point is located near the open car park between Blocks 322 & 324, Clementi Avenue 5 (opposite Clementi Mall, past MRT station). Turn right when exiting from Clementi MRT station control. Cross the sheltered linkway bridge and continue along the sheltered walkway to an open space car park. The boarding point for the bus is the second pathway on your left. The shuttle bus frequency is 30 minutes, with the first bus departing from Clementi at 9.45am and the last departing from NUS-ISS at 4.30pm.

• Drive along the Ayer Rajah Expressway (AYE) towards Jurong
• Exit at Clementi Road (AYE Exit 9)
• Travel southward along Clementi Road for another 500m
• Turn left into Kent Ridge Crescent (after passing the School of Design & Environment on your left)
• After 100m, turn left into Kent Ridge Drive
• Go straight and travel along Heng Mui Keng Terrace (NUS Business School on the left, Kent Ridge Hall, Sheares Hall on the right)

Public Transportation

Option 1: From Haw Par Villa MRT Station

• Available buses along Pasir Panjang Road are: 10, 30, 51, 143, 188 or 200.
• Board any of the above bus services from the bus stop opposite the Haw Par Villa  MRT station.
• Alight at Bus Stop 16061 and cross the traffic light junction (Alight after you pass CHARIS LODGE Condominium on the left).
• Walk along Heng Mui Keng Terrace. Keep right as you enter NUS and continue up a gentle slope past Kent Ridge and Sheares Halls. ISS (white building) is on the left opposite the Institute of South East Asian Studies (ISEAS).

Option 2: From Kent Ridge MRT Station (National University Hospital)

• Take Exit A and head to Bus Stop 3
• Take the NUS free internal shuttle bus service A1 and alight at NUS Business School Biz 2 (1 stop after School of Computing)
• Cross the road towards the covered linkway and walk down the slope along Business Link. Turn left into Heng Mui Keng Terrace and continue up a gentle slope past Kent Ridge and Sheares Halls. ISS (white building) is on the left opposite the Institute of South East Asian Studies (ISEAS)

Option 3: From Kent Ridge Bus Interchange

• Buses that stop here: 10, 33, 95, 151, 189 or 200.
• Walk up towards Ventus and cross the road towards Arts and Social Sciences - NUS Theatrette (LT13).
• Proceed to Bus Stop B04 and take the NUS free internal shuttle bus service A1.
• Alight at NUS Business School Biz 2   (1 stop after School of Computing).

1. Hot Topic Talk: Agile Governance
by Dr Robert Firth, Senior Member, Software Engineering Programme

Agile is about people, processes, and things. However, all three behave differently in an Agile project, compared to a more traditional one. This raises the important issue of governance: How are Agile projects to be conducted at all levels of coordination and direction? This session looks at the differences of practice, and the difference of governance required for each practice.

2. Hot Topic Talk: Two roads diverged in a wood - IT Career Choices

Through this hour session, Dr Leong will take you through a series of interactive bite sized talks. Based on the topics requested through an online poll, he'll cover UX, software engineering, natural language processing, AI, Internet of Things, no-touch interfaces, 3D printing, mobile diversity, smart machines and cloud computing/personal cloud/mobile cloud.
