‘Internet of Things’ or IoT is a key foundation of the Smart Nation in Singapore. IoT can enrich the digital landscape to improve quality of life and business efficiency. IoT provides the sensing and intelligence capability to monitor events of interest, process the events and take appropriate action – all of which can be done automatically. Knowledge of IoT and its enabling technologies, and how best to use them, will support organisations to achieve the vision of the Smart Nation. Organisations such as government ministries, MNCs and startups will benefit from knowing how best to envision and implement IoT solutions effectively to meet the needs of their users.

The Meridian Mobile Apps engage with users in new ways by getting more value from mobile devices via location-powered apps, achieving indoor turn-by-turn directions, proximity-based notifications, and asset tracking. Dr. Tan Guan Hong is a Technology Partner with Rekanext Capital Partners and a Consultant to various technology companies. He was the Senior Director, Smart Nation Systems & Solutions (GovTech 2016-2017) overseeing the Smart Nation Platform, Sensor Network and Video Analytics. He has over 36 years of working experiences as various roles in MNC (Philips Electronics 1980-1993), a Technology Start-up Company (SysEng 1994-2009), a Listed Company (Tritech Group 2009-2012), Director for Technology in A*STAR I2R (2012-2016). He has cross domain experiences in Electrical, Electronics, Civil, Water and Business Management throughout his Engineering career. He has experienced working on technologies which span from TRL 3 to TRL 9.

Teck Guan is Director, Strategy Marketing Department at Huawei South Pacific Region. He has over 28 years of experience in the ICT industries, with primary focus on Smart Nation/ City Solutions, Cloud Computing, Data Centre and IT Outsourcing in Asia Pacific. His recent projects include support for Singapore Smart Nation 2025 initiatives, working with IMDA on Strategic Partner Programme (SPP), led the Marketing Execution Team for Huawei Cloud Services in the Huawei South Pacific region, and support of Philippines National Broadband Plan (NBP) Project.
