Upcoming Classes

Class 1 08 Dec 2025 to 12 Dec 2025 (Full Time)

Duration: 5 days

When:
Dec:
08, 09, 10, 11, 12
Time:
09:00am to 05:00pm

Key Takeaways

  • Comprehensive observability foundation. Participant will gain a deep understanding of observability, the fundamental difference between monitoring and observability, the importance of instrumentation and how to use them to enable visibility into modern cloud-native applications.
  • Gain practical skills in instrumenting applications. Learn how to collect and emit metrics, logs and traces from microservices.
  • Implement observability pipelines. Construct observability pipeline and configure how your pipeline should process and enrich the instrumentation data stream to improve observability.
  • Learn to query and visualize your instrumented data. Query timeseries database to extract and visualize key performance indicators.
  • Design chaos experiments to enhance system reliability. Use chaos engineering to intentionally inject failures into system to observe, understand and identify issues in the system to improve reliability.

Who Should Attend

  • Software developers
  • DevOps engineers
  • Site Reliability engineers
  • Solution architects
  • Technical leads

Pre-requisites

  • Basic programming knowledge. Familiarity with one programming language (preferably JavaScript) is expected.
  • Familiarity with cloud native concepts. A foundational understanding of networking, microservices architecture, containers and Kubernetes
  • Comfortable with CLI (Comand-Line-Interface). Participants should be comfortable in a navigating and working in a shell.

What Will Be Covered

  • Introduction to Observability. Learn the difference between monitoring and observability. Measure the service’s health with frameworks like the Golden Signals, RED and USE methodologies.
  • Capturing logs, metrics and traces. Participants will learn about the different types of logs, metrics and traces; how to use auto and manual instrumentation to capture and observe these data across microservices.
  • Unified observability pipelines. Participants will learn about OpenTelemery and how to use it to create and configure pipelines to ingest, enrich with contextual data and export to popular backends like Prometheus and Grafana.
  • Data visualisation. Participants will learn to use tools to build interactive dashboards to visualize data. They will build effective dashboards to monitor key metrics and how to interpret then for troubleshooting, understanding system behaviour and capacity planning.
  • Integrate chaos engineering with observability. Use chaos engineering methodologies to validate system resilience and measure the impact of component failures with observability.
  • Practical hands-on workshop. There will be daily real-world scenario workshops to reinforce core topics and to challenge participants.
