Overview
Technology professionals are increasingly expected to make decisions that are not only technically sound, but also financially viable and strategically justified. Whether proposing a digital transformation initiative, managing a technology budget, evaluating an AI investment, or prioritising competing projects, tech leaders must understand how financial performance, cost structures, and investment trade-offs shape organisational decisions. This course addresses that need by equipping participants with the financial management capabilities required to operate credibly and effectively in business-facing technology roles.
The course takes a practical, managerial approach to finance for technology environments. Participants will learn how to interpret financial statements, understand budgeting and cost structures, construct business cases, evaluate ROI and investment alternatives, and apply strategic decision-making frameworks. The emphasis is not on technical accounting, but on using financial information to support sound decisions in areas such as technology investments, digital programme, platform modernisation, innovation initiatives, and operational cost management.
Throughout the course, participants will work through applied exercises, budgeting scenarios, business case development tasks, and investment prioritisation discussions based on realistic technology and digital transformation contexts. By the end of the course, they will be able to translate technical proposals into business language, assess the financial implications of technology choices, develop more robust recommendations, and contribute more confidently to strategic and financial discussions with senior stakeholders.
