Text Processing Using Deep Learning

Develop practical text processing solutions using deep learning and pretrained language models.

Overview

Part of Graduate Certificate in Practical Language Processing
Duration 5 days
Course Time
Enquiry Please email ask-iss@nus.edu.sg for more details.
This five-day course develops practical skills in using machine learning, deep learning, LLM and generative AI to process and analyse diverse real-world unstructured text data, including documents in knowledge base, email and SMS conversations, web articles, social media user-generated content (UGC), customer reviews and other business communications. Participants learn both to leverage external GenAI services through API calls and to build, customise and deploy open-source AI models locally, enabling organisations to retain control over their sensitive internal data, proprietary knowledge bases and domain expertise. Participants also explore evaluation, reasoning, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), operational considerations and responsible AI use. Through guided workshops and case study, participants learn to develop practical language processing and GenAI solutions to automate tasks, streamline operations, enhance decision-making and supercharge business workflows.

Key Takeaways

  • Apply supervised and unsupervised techniques to solve core natural language processing tasks and interpret model outputs to assess performance and limitations.
  • Design, implement, and optimize advanced deep neural network architectures for industry applications, with consideration for training stability and computational efficiency.
  • Leverage transfer learning principles and pretrained large language models to adapt models effectively for GenAI tasks.
  • Fine-tune, evaluate, and deploy large language models responsibly, while identifying risks such as bias, hallucination, security, and data leakage.
  • Develop end-to-end GenAI solutions through hands-on case studies by translating real-world problem statements into executable and implementable GenAI pipelines.

Who Should Attend

  • Software developers and AI engineers building language AI applications
