Track 1: An Amazing No-code RPA Tool Hidden Inside Your Microsoft Excel

There are a lot of people who think that RPA is rocket science –something very complicated and costly that only someone with programming or IT knowledge can do. Many also think that RPA takes weeks, months or even years to implement. This 100% hands-on session lets you play with one of the RPA tools by Microsoft – the Power Query. This is probably one of the best-kept secrets from Microsoft – so simple-to-use yet so powerful, but so little known or used by people. It is especially useful if you use Excel heavily in getting data from multiple sources, cleaning up data and consolidating reports from multiple spreadsheets. This is also one of the very few no-code RPA tools out there that you can use to create your own bot right after this session – without any IT or programming knowledge.

Track 3: AI in Finance: An Ensembling Architecture Incorporating Machine Learning Models and Genetic Algorithm Optimisation for Forex Trading

Algorithmic trading has become the standard in the financial market. Traditionally, most algorithms have relied on rule-based expert systems which are a set of complex if/then rules that need to be updated manually to changing market conditions. Machine learning (ML) is the natural next step in algorithmic trading because it can directly learn market patterns and behaviours from historical trading data and factor this into trading decisions. An end-to-end system is developed for automated low-frequency quantitative trading in the foreign exchange (Forex) markets. The system utilises several State of the Art (SOTA) machine learning strategies that are combined under an ensemble model to derive the market signal for trading. Genetic Algorithm (GA) is used to optimise the strategies for maximising profits. The system also includes a money management strategy to mitigate risk and a back-testing framework to evaluate system performance. The system performance is promising under ideal conditions. The ensemble model achieved about 10% nett P&L with −0.7% drawdown level.

Focus on the winning ideas: Customer-Focused Innovation with Jobs-to-be-done

Organisations are drowning in too many ideas and options. With the rise of digitalisation and new technologies like AI options and ideas have exploded. Technological change is faster than ever, and new opportunities arise constantly. But which of these ideas and options truly add value to people’s lives? How to apply new technologies to unsolved customer problems?

The Jobs-to-be-done logic provides a clear answer to such questions. It shifts the perspective away from solutions to the customers’ or users' true goal and need: The Job they want to get done. Solutions and technologies come later. The Customer-Focused Innovation approach (CFI) is a proven way to apply Jobs-to-be-done. It identifies customer problems in a concrete and granular way, measures their relevance in the market and spins solution ideas and technologies in such a way to solve still unsolved user problems. In addition, this speeds up innovation because the focus is clear and increases user adoption thanks to strong value propositions.

In the talk Beat Walther and Yann Wermuth will illustrate the impact of the fact-based and proven approach using cases from software, the national Swiss railway, Medtech and others of the more than 100 times CFI has been applied.

Speaker(s):

Beat Walther, Owner & Managing Director, Vendbridge AG

Overview of Data and Analytics Essentials and Foundations

As companies increasingly integrate data across functions, the boundaries between marketing, sales and operations have been blurring.  This allows them to find new opportunities that arise by aligning and integrating the activities of supply and demand to improve commercial effectiveness. Instead of conducting post-hoc analyses that allow them to correct future actions, companies generate and analyze data in near real-time and adjust their operations processes dynamically.  Transitioning from static analytics outputs to more dynamic contextualized insights means analytics can be delivered with increased relevance closer to the point of decision.

This talk will cover the analytics journey from descriptive, predictive and prescriptive analytics to derive actionable and timely insights to improve customer experience to drive marketing, salesforce and operations excellence.
