Dr. Ni Wangdong has over a decade of extensive industry experience in Data Science across diverse sectors, spanning Telecom, Chemicals, Food, Utilities, and Logistics, in both Asian and Europe.

Prior to joining NUS-ISS, he served as a Senior Data Scientist in a telecom company, where he leveraged Large Language Models (LLM) such as ChatGPT, ChatGPT assistant API, LangChain, and Llama-index to optimize customer service performance. His expertise included embedding, prompt engineering, contextual learning, and RAG techniques. He seamlessly integrated Data Science, Machine Learning, and Artificial Intelligence from back-end network to front-end UI, utilizing big data analysis of Terabytes data across platforms like GCP, AWS, Elastic Search, etc., to refine app design, enhance user experience, conduct customer segmentation and recommendation, and detect abnormal customer behaviour among millions of users.

Before his position in the Telecom industry, he worked as a Data Scientist at GeTS (CrimsonLogic), leading a team of data scientists and data analysts to deliver comprehensive data science solutions addressing logistic challenges in global e-trade supply chains. His work involved leveraging NLP and Deep Learning techniques to optimize interaction between people, products, and processes.

Previously, at Sembcorp Industry, he led a team of data scientists and external vendors to develop end-to-end data science solutions for real-world challenges in water and power sectors.

Dr. Ni Wangdong has made significant contributions to the field, publishing several papers in international journals and conferences on the application of ML/AI/DS in manufacturing, alongside filing several patents, including PCT.

He holds a Bachelor's, Master's, and Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Central South University, China, with his Ph.D. thesis focusing on chemical data analysis and modelling through the development of novel machine learning algorithms at the University of Delaware, US. He has also held research positions at DHI-NTU & Environment Research Centre & Education of Nanyang Technological University and was awarded an industrial Postdoc fellowship by FOSS company, University of Copenhagen, and the Danish National Advanced Technology Foundation.
